The average annual salary of psychologists in Australia is in the range of $60000- $90000 a year.  The salary figures vary with the qualifications, roles and experience.

How to register as a psychologist in Australia? 

  1. Study a four-year undergraduate degree in psychology. You can do either a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) or a three-year Bachelor of Psychological Science followed by a Graduate Diploma of Psychology (Advanced). Ensure the degrees you study are accredited by the APAC (Australian Psychology Accreditation Council).
  2. Register provisionally as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, before completing two years of study in an APAC-approved Master of Psychology (Clinical).
  3. Apply for general registration as a Psychologist. All practising psychologists in Australia must be registered with the Psychology Board of Australia under the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme. 
  4. To be eligible for an Area of Practice Endorsement (AoPE) in clinical psychology, you must complete a two-year registrar program that involves supervised professional practice and completion of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
