Stricter GTE Standards for Student Visa

With the Australian government's direction regarding Student Visas and with the pendng change from the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement to a new Genuine Student requirement, the GTE requirements are getting stricter. With this development, there are reports of an increase in student visa refusals. This is why it is important to have a counsellor that will give you proper advice when it comes to your student visa application.

COVID-19 visa subclass 408 discontinued

As of 1 February 2024, all visa applications for the 408 visa Pandemic Event has closed for all applicants and no further applications were accepted beyond that date. If you are a 408 visa holder that were ineligible to apply for the extension, it may be important to have proper advice what the next step would be regarding your extension of stay in Australia.

Potential changes to the Subclass 485 Visa

With Australian's new Migration Strategy, the 485 visa age requirement limit will change from 50 years old to 35 years old. The Department of Home Affairs said lowering the age eligibility to 35 would encourage "early career professionals who can contribute to the Australian economy over a longer period". Another change to the 485 visa will be that the visa duration will be potentially cut down. These changes are still being discussed and have yet to be finalised and announced.

Amidst these current and possible changes, you can contact us for more information or book your appointment with one of our counsellors.
